Riding home yesterday...

Into a headwind I'd qualify as "stiff",

I caught myself grinning and thinking, "Man, this would be pretty bad if there were hills and I was full of El Tapatio tortillas and tacos, but otherwise this doesn't suck."

I find myself occasionally being grateful for the knee pain, too - it reminds me that I still have knees.

I haven't ridden much yet, By bike is in bad shape. The rear wheel is gone, I pulled a spoke from the rim, it actually split the rim. The bottom bracket was full of water, so I'm having the whole thing re-done, and a new wheel built. I have peddled around the neighborhood, and have been putting my daughters bile together. But I want to start back to the commute this week.

It sure seems easier with no load huh? Or at least less load...

I rode the fixie this week to work. It's a fun bike, but not near as forgiving as my roadie. The ankle still hurts pretty bad, I may have to see the doc about it this week.

hey, it's back to the "normalcy" of fixer upper bikes, aches and pains....it's life isn't it.
Hope you get to feeling better and tackling headwinds like there is no tomorrow and getting the gear back in shape too!
Hill Country Easter Tour is here this weekend...seems like hundreds of cyclists have descended on our little town....it's a lovely sight.
Happy riding fellows.

I am adjusting bank to normal. Got my Cross Check back from Colonel's and the wheels are round again. Rode the fixed gear all week and did a five hour mountain bike ride at Bar H on Saturday.

Everyone, even people I don't know that well at work are asking about the trip. I try to tell them about Matt and Luke and the other guys we met down there, but they can't get past the the distance we rode. So then I tell them how good the ride down was...about jumping cattle guards on tuesday...the views on Miller Loop outside of Johnson City...The tailwind on Monday....Camping in the pasture in Beeville....
They tell me I must be out of my mind. maybe I am. I don't know why a lot of people just don't get it.

Yeah, I can talk about the ride all day long, but talking about the riders makes me choke right up.
